Jin Jim gehören zu den „absoluten Senkrechtstarter Bands in der deutschenJazzszene“ (NDR). Zu Recht, wenn man sich ihre noch kurze Band-Geschichteanschaut. 2013 gründeten der aus Peru stammende Flötist Daniel Manrique-Smith, der Bassist Ben Tai Trawinski, der Gitarrist Johann May und derSchlagzeuger Nico Stallmann ""Jin Jim"".
Noch im selben Jahr wurden sie als Voting-Sieger ins Finale des JazzTube-Festivals Bonn gewählt, im Jahr darauf gewann das Quartett gar -gegen fast200 Mitbewerber- den „Future Sounds“-Wettbewerb der LeverkusenerJazztage. 2015 veröffentlichten sie ihr erstes Album ""Die Ankunft“. Und was füreine. 2018 dann der ""Ritterschlag"", als ihr zweites Album ""Weiße Schatten"",gefolgt von tollen Rezensionen, beim renommierten Münchener Label ACTerschien.
Viele Live Shows auf der ganzen Welt und eine globale Pandemiespäter folgt 2023 endlich ein neues Album, mit welchem Jin jim sich einmalmehr selbst übertroffen haben: New Choices.

In 2013 Peruvian-born flautist Daniel Manrique-Smith, bassist Ben Tai Trawinski,guitarist Johann May and drummer Nico Stallmann started up Jin Jim. In theirfirst year as a band they were voted through by the public into the the finals ofthe JazzTube Festival in Bonn. In the following year, the quartet won the„Future Sounds“ competition at the Leverkusener Jazztage festival out of afield of nearly 200 entrants, and also released their first album „Die Ankunft“(The Arrival). Their meteoric ascent is based on the innovation which they bringto the music. Latin, jazz and rock all collide here with maximum impact. Thegroup’s repertoire, has set out their essential direction: „Rhythmically highlycomplex yet harmonically accessible, and with influences ranging fromflamenco to Indian music and pop.“
In February 2018 they went into the studio to record „Weiße Schatten“. Jin Jimshowed once again how refined and individual their sound is.
Many live shows around the world and a global pandemic later, 2023 finallyfollows a new album with which Jin jim have once again outdone themselves :New Choices.
